Bootie-licious: The Thread celebrates boots for Fall

When the economy is this unpredictable you’ve got to question whether or not you really need that bright blue fur vest, no matter how much it may speak to you. But you don’t have to forgo staying on trend altogether. One strategy is to spend only on staple pieces you know you’ll get a lot of use out of on a daily basis. Right now The Thread recommends a slammin’ pair of boots.

There’s a boot out there for every personality. Every shape you can imagine is in fashion at the moment: Over-the-knee, open-toe, lace-ups, soft and slouchy ankle booties, even studded, spike-heel platforms.

Buy a pair and you will easily get your money’s worth as this season there’s nothing you can’t pair your boots with. I’ve been wearing my ankle boots with everything from pencil skirts to low-cut cocktail dresses. They’re a lot more comfortable than stilettos, for one thing, and I like the juxtaposition of a flirty, feminine look with something tougher and unexpected.

Since we’ve seen so many stars flaunt their fall boots, even on the red carpet, we thought we’d put together a list of the top five most bootie-licious women in Hollywood. Some made the cut for their extreme tastes (thank you, Rihanna). Others, like our number one pick, got the nod for the sheer vastness of her boot repertoire.

We’ve also got a boot-by-boot roundup of ‘Gossip Girl’ Blake Lively’s favorite styles (spoiler alert: she’s our most bootie-licious gal). We’re happy to report that Blake’s picks are actually on the more affordable side of the price spectrum, especially for footwear.

The grey suede over-the-knee boots Blake wears with her school uniform plaid skirt and Magaschoni cashmere vest are Chinese Laundry for $99 (also available at select DSW stores). The style is Turbo and the color is Ashgrey suede.

We asked Blake’s stylist were we could find the deep V-cut booties she wears with a grey dress and white bolero jacket. Those are from Blake’s very own closet, he told us, but we found a similar black suede pair for $69 at Zara.

My favorite of the lot are her caramel-colored, slouchy booties from Nine West that retail for $109. They’d look great with textured tights and a short, flouncy skirt. I paired them with a pair of Rich & Skinny jeans— the same brand Blake wears— and a silky raspberry top from Elie Tahari.

Here’s a tip for making your boots last. Before you wear them, take them to a shoe repair shop and ask for a protective thin rubber sole to be put on the bottom plus a set of rubber taps on the toes to keep them from scuffing. It’s a preventative measure that doesn’t cost much and will keep your boots in good shape for spring and beyond.

Thanks for checking out The Thread. We'll be back again soon from our studio in Planet Hollywood with a brand new episode. Next week we host the "Battle of the Pop Star Fragrances". Find out which stars will battle it out on The Thread.

Anyway you guys can fix it so this article is not blaring itself through my speakers when I click on the main page for fashion and beauty? Nothing worse than unexpected noise that you cannot determine the source of!

While I like all of the boots, I am an adult. Dressing like a 20-something actress playing a high school student is not my goal. Couldn't you have found someone other than a Gossip Girl actress? I'm sure there are hundreds of actresses wearing boots right now who aren't 20-something playing a teenager.

I agree with Kitten, these styles don't cut it. Boots actresses wear for photo ops are not very suitable for professional settings.

Maybe some of the styles don't cut it but it gives you some great ideas. Any of those boots can be translated into a more adult style ofter with a lower heel.

I'm an adult and I love boots. No One suggested to wear these boots with a business suit. And the idea of boots aren't ridiculous just because you have something against Gossip Girl.
