Don't Be a Self-Tanning "Don't" this Fall

As fall approaches and we start trading skirts for pants and bikinis for jackets, you have three options regarding that killer tan you acquired without committing one of these skin sins:

Option 1: Keep up your regular use of self-tanner so your glow never fades (but you may end up looking like this).

Options 2: Quit the self-tanner cold turkey and revert back to paleness (not a bad move if you like looking like this).

Or, Option 3 (my personal favorite): Keep the essence of that beachy look by using a lighter self-tanner or one less often. It's the best of both worlds: you don't look like a ghost all winter, nor do you look like a fake-bake, "cheeto" girl. See how to do it right here.

It's actually really easy to keep up a subtle glow, even if you're blindingly pale to begin with (as this woman proves), or if you've never even picked a bottle of self-tanner (this woman shows how easy it can be).

Or, if you're really not into fake tans (it's cool, I know they're not for everyone). You can still keep that summer vibe with a beachy hairstyle, like this one. And of course, don't forget to protect your hair year-round with a product like this, especially if you're in the sun or color your hair.

I am so over the whole self-tanner obsession. It's too time consuming to keep up!! I'm going to embrace my ghost-like skin tone this fall instead. Anyone else with me?

Applying on a ton of sunless tanner is no different than getting a real sun tan... they're both damaging to the skin. There's a lot of chemicals in the sunless tanners, why overdo it? Unless you live around the equator, being all dark and tan in the winter makes you look silly.

"Applying on a ton of sunless tanner is no different than getting a real sun tan."

You have reputable sources that can back this up? Because this is the first time I have heard this claim.

I didn't realize sunless tanner bombards skin with UV light. ;)

Some tanners are like putting cancer fertilizer on the skin.......be very careful.

Environmental Working Group can help you pick a very safe tanner.

    Same with Sun blocks.

a few yrs back I used to get spray tanned. If i didn't do that I would use the at home tan in a bottle. I liked the looked but hated the smell. Anyone else ever notice the smell of fake tanners? I am totally pale now, and wish the sun wasn't so damaging to skin.
