The Great Female and Male Survey results are in! (And they might surprise you.)

Last month, Shine conducted its second annual survey with AskMen.com--it's an online quiz where real women and men weigh in on such varied topics as online dating, money, careers, soul mates, marriage, romance, cheating, and how they would feel if a partner got fat.

The results are in, and just like last year, many of them are quite surprising:

Men revealed themselves to be more traditional than the women
They believe in soul mates more than we do (by just 3 percent, but still) and they more strongly believe in preserving the sanctity of marriage (75 percent for men, 63 percent women). The majority of men share our desire for a loyal partner, they want a new girlfriend to have wife potential, and they aren't likely to cheat even if their partner would never find out.

But when it comes to looks, a double chin equals a double standard
Women were nearly 20 percent more likely to stay with a partner who gained weight, whereas 48 percent of men say they wouldn't put up with it.

What attracts the opposite sex?
34 percent of women said their confidence is their main weapon to attract men. Only 17 percent use their looks as man-lure. The majority of men believe we like them for their sense of humor.

We'd both change things about our mates
Women overwhelmingly would like their partners to be more sensitive and/or considerate; while men, well, they'd really like us to be less moody and give them less attitude.

In terms of the past year's events, men believe the economic crisis was a bit overblown...
According to 85 percent of respondents, the economic crisis has not had a direct negative effect on their career progress; however it did prompt 69 percent of men to save more money and five percent more men to pay with cash in 2009 than in 2008.

...While women don't have much confidence in Sarah Palin.
The majority of those surveyed (39 percent), said the former Alaska governor set women back 20 years. Only 5 percent see her as a great role model and mother.

Interesting. The less attitude and moodiness that girls show is really true. But I know that girls can have bad days too, so I give then some space, or something that relaxes them.

ok I just want to know why Sarah Palin dumb a$$ had to be associated with the survey?? But whatever, the first survey finding puzzles me a little but only because I don't know if I'm the only one who notices that a lot of women complain about their boyfriends/husbands cheating on them especially on this blogging website but this survey says that 3% more of men say that men believe in soul mates or loyal partners..... I don't know that was just my first thought after I read it.

My husband believes I am his soul mate. I believe we are the only two people in the world who can put up with each other, LOL.

If men were more sensitive then we would be less moody. If they talked more we would talk less. Life is a Catch 22.

I agree with Jenni, from personal experience men cheat!!

especially if their in a situation where their partner would never find out. I am sure that there are men that can remain faithful and loyal to their partners but the majority can not. So perhaps the sample is biased.

    On cheating:

Did you ever get to know the guy before you went out with him?

I think people get into relationships too fast. If they got to know the person as a friend first I think you would be more selective about whether you would go out with them or not.

On that note I would not go out with most guys around my age because I know that they are too young not to want more than one girl.

Let face the fact, men cheat a lot and are not going to stop with all the nakedness of women and young ladies we see on tv,papers and on the street. We also believe that women are more than men so the adventure continues.!

Here we go...What defines cheating, other then the obvious total physical intimacy? and is this ever broken down by age group? How many of the respondents;male and female have cheated? Everyone loses in the end,but no one ever thinks of that in the beginning of the "cheat 101". Personal belief; all stats can be messed with just by how the questions are asked and/or interpeted. When should the discussion take place? B4 it is a committed one, the answers are more in body language/tells then in the words.
