5 reasons why celebrities make sex tapes

Leighton Meester, better known as Blair Waldorf of "Gossip Girl," allegedly has a sex tape and a website called celeb-hotline.com got their hands on it. The site claims the tape is 100% legit and that the "Gossip Girl Gets Wild." Ugh. Another one?  Don't these girls learn?!

With all the "leaked" naked photos taken from "stolen" cell phones and computers, we wonder how much is done deliberately and whether at this point famous young women should be accountable for themselves and their pasts. Leighton, who was actually born in jail and seems to have had a very interesting upbringing, has just released a new single with the band Cobra Starship called "Good Girls Go Bad." Coincidence?

We've debunked the five reasons celebrities make sex tapes.

1. They're narcissists. If you've ever seen an episode of any Paris Hilton reality show you know she enjoys checking herself out in the mirror. She's also BFFs with the paparazzi since she always wants her picture taken. Why would being filmed in all her naked glory be any different?

2. They're impressionable young girls. At an age of experimentation and coming into your own sexuality, a little persuading from a hot guy with a video camera might be all it takes to take it off in front of the lens.

3. Peer pressure/publicity. Kim Kardashian had a tape and was asked to be a guest on "Tyra" to talk about it. We've seen everyone from Cassie to Disney's Vanessa Hudgens to possibly Rihanna take their clothes off and they all got loads of attention for it and no serious repercussions. Despite the initial embarrassment, perhaps making a sex tape isn't a bad career move.

4. They're just having fun. Pam Anderson and Tommy Lee may have released the tape to get attention (and make a ton of money), but neither of them have an ounce of ambivalence on the tape. They take turns shooting, shout "I love you" about 50 times and are unquestionably having a great time.

5. Some of these celebs may never be able to get behind a camera. Porn could be their directorial debut!
(OK, we're kidding on this one. Kind of.)

With digital cameras and web cams and camera phones so readily available, we fear these celebrity scandals will be popping up more and more. When they know it's only a matter of time before someone unearths their intimate moments, why do you think stars continue to make sex tapes? [TMZ]

Remember Screech from Saved by the Bell? When I heard that he made a sex tape, I barfed a bit and died a little inside. lol. Same goes for Paris... *barfs again*

If you make the decision to tape yourself and/or partner(s) doing something sexual, you are risking getting it stolen, leaked, circulated etc. Then that could have a negative impact on your life, celebrity or not. If you're not willing to do that, don't tape yourself or keep it hidden/locked away...

LOL inferno yeah Screech would be scary on a sex tape. O.o'

IMO I think a more interesting blog would be "Five Reasons People Watch Celebrity Sex Tapes."

If nobody watched them, it wouldn't even be an issue.

Like 'ell will I EVER DO THAT. It reminds me of the story of this S.O.B. who was in college with his girlfriend. He brought up the idea of she and the boyfriend to make a sex video. What she didn't know was that the idiot made several copies and sold them around campus. The poor girl was humiliated in the worst way possible (other than getting cheated on). It was awful. If anybody makes a tape like that they're taking an awful chance. And if a celebrity does it (other than porn stars), they could risk losing their reputation because of the double standard which still exists in some areas. Not a good idea.

It is very simple. Most of these celebrities are in the show-business, and they are here because they are exhibitionists.

Celebrity or not; video taping your sexual activiities is nothing all that important, even if your caught by others. Love is not love to be fulfilled but on a desire we all lone for. So, as for you all out there, keep reading and "ENJOY" your sexual life while you are still able to perform. Good luck because sex is a pleasure and the hard part about it is the results; especially "IF" you're not ready to be a father or mother.

Just like you said, I think its important to remember they are impressionable young girls/women who are coming into their sexuality as well as exploring their sexuality. A lot of people seem to forget that celebrities are actual people too, not just characters we watch week after week. Granted anyone who makes a sextape or take explicit pictures should make every effort to keep those videos/pictures private and make sure they are done with someone who they can trust who won't turn on them, but unfortunately, like the rest of us, they end up learning lessons the hard way just like everyone else.

I really dislike all the judgment that comes a celebrities way when something like this gets exposed. Are all those judging the ones with squeaky clean pasts? I think probably not.
