Hi, mom-friends. Are you having a sweet week? Mine's turning sour, with edgy convos at home about the "what-ifs" of the recession. Fabby Crabhubby is divine and delightful and debonair, but he's also an architect and there just 'aint a heckuva lot of building happening right now in this our fair land.
Anyhoo, when I'm feeling glum I like nothing better than a spell of browsing over at Etsy. How serendipitous that my chums at Etsy asked me to curate a kiddie party selection for their Handmade Kids page! I'll be showing off a superb load of vintage and new party-perfect finds this Thursday. Here follows a sampling of my selections as a preview for you, my dears.

Etsy has super-cute alternatives to dull party standards in all matters of decor and presentation, with a charm that works just as well for grownup parties as for kids'. Take cupcake liners: Etsy has the finest selection imaginable, far more thrilling than those
ho-hum pastel ones at your local grocery. How do you like the swirly set (at left)? Or how about the tulip-shaped cups (at right)? These sell for less than $5 for a pack of 75. That's enough for several grownup Oscar bashes and tot fiestas right there. I'm also mad for Etsy's vintage cupcake toppers. To think I once spent an entire, maniacal weekend icing Hello Kitty faces for a Crabtot birthday. Remember that, longtime Crabmom readers? It was fun, in a certain obs essive-compulsive way, and it made me feel better about my otherwise lazy mommy mode. But never again. Seriously, why bother with the icing when you can just shove a cute topper on the cake and be done with it? Take these little clown guys. Not all kids are scared of clowns, especially when they're this tiny and cute and carry candles on their heads.Celebrate with one of these tasty birthday cakes.
Aren't these ballerinas magical for a little girl's party, or to add an Amy
Sedaris-like sparkle of kitsch to your adult do? I don't know about you, but cupcakes just make me feel happy. They're dead easy to make and with these recession-fabulous decorations they look like a million but aren't. In other words, perf for your "I invested with Bernie Madoff" get-together. Click around on the above-listed shops for other sweet cupcake toppers, from fawns, princesses, and hula dancers, to sailboats, hot rods, and pirate flags. As always with Etsy, if an item you want is sold out, check their re-listings or convo with the seller.More from Crabmommy:
