The 25 all-time best high school movies

EW

EW

In the wake of the insane success of “High School Musical 3,” Entertainment Weekly made a list of the Top 25 All-Time Best High School Movies. The countdown contained a lot of movies you’d expect: “Fast Times at Ridgemont High,” "Ferris Beuller's Day Off," “Clueless,” Mean Girls,” “American Pie” and “Heathers.”

Ferris Bueller came in lower than we thought at #10, and noticeably absent altogether were “Sixteen Candles,” “Pretty in Pink,” and "Weird Science." I understand they maybe didn’t want to go too heavy on the John Hughes films (he wrote, directed and produced "The Breakfast Club" and "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" as well) , but “Sixteen Candles” belongs in the top 10 if not top 5. I feel outraged! I also would have expected “The Outsiders,” “Can’t Hardly Wait” or even “Porky’s” to make the cut above “Donnie Darko,” the disturbing tale of time travel and alternate universes.

Here’s the full list:

1. "The Breakfast Club" (1985)
2. "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" (1982)
3. "Dazed and Confused" (1993)
4. "Rebel Without a Cause" (1955)
5. "Heathers" (1989)
6. "American Graffiti" (1973)
7. "Clueless" (1995)
8. "Boyz in the Hood" (1991)
9. "Election" (1999)
10. "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" (1986)
11. "Say Anything" (1989)
12. "Mean Girls" (2004)
13. "High School" (1968)
14. "Donnie Darko" (2001)
15. "Carrie" (1976)
16. "Lucas" (1986)
17. "Peggy Sue Got Married" (1986)
18. "Rock 'N' Roll High School" (1979)
19. "The Last Picture Show" (1971)
20. "Dead Poets Society" (1989)
21. "Grease" (1978)
22. "American Pie" (1999)
23. "Cooley High" (1975)
24. "Rushmore" (1998)
25. "Hoosiers" (1986)

    Fast Times at Ridgemont High.

I graduated High School in '83, so I really got that movie, completely.

I particularly liked "Mr. Hand" and the first time I went to Los Angeles with my brothers and sisters, we saw him in the airport! We were so excited, we were like, "MR.HAND"!!! He got a good laugh out of that.

Now, I just need to meet "Spicoli"(sp) and I'm set. ;D

I think Can't Hardley Wait was definantly my favorite in high school. And my high school wardrobe wouldn't have been the same without my "Save Ferris" tee!
