Merry Christmas. . .and Happy Holidays

user

Its that time of year. . . .again!
Whether you are a scrooge or an elve, you've probably noticed how no one has the money to buy gifts.
For kids this year Christmas may be a dissapointment.
But really. . .?
Is that what this is about?
Is Chrismas or any other holiday ever going to satisfy the constant human need for more?
None of these holidays are based on gifts, but thats pretty much all we seem to care about.
Why have people built so much around gifts?
I'm sure Jesus's birth wasn't centered on gifts, or maybe if it was, it wasn't gifts for us it was gifts for him, and other needy people.
We even made up a character for kids to believe in to bring them gifts.
I'm not trying to be scrooge here, but I just don't think its a good idea to feed human wants. Its like feeding a fire and its part of what has hindered our economy.
When someone wants something, they buy it, whether they can afford it or not.

I hope you all have a great holiday,
melissa

p.s. this is just me voicing my opinions-sorry.
