O.K. so I used to have these "dreams", we are going to call them that anyway.... Anyway, I would try to go to sleep, and all of a sudden I would feel paralyzed. I've never been paralyzed... but I couldn't move.... I knew what was going on around me... but I couldn't make myself come back out of it.... unless someone touched me and said my name, I prayed and tryed to do anything I could to make someone do this.... and it never failed eventually someone would say my name..... touch me and somehow I'm able to make stressful facial expressions, thank God I can still do that.
Well, this went on for about 2 months about 1-2 years ago, it may not sound bad.... but it is a horrid experience.
Well, tonight it happened again except.... I'm trying to fall asleep, I start saying my prayers, and all of a sudden my chest started to feel like it was vibrating and tightening.... my head felt like it was going to explode.... I start praying again it gets worse, (remember, I can't move, but am trying my best to do so... scream anything and can't.) I am a hand and foot cuddler.... so, I was holding hands with my husband, and I was trying my best o squeeze his hand. Well, I was doing everything I could.... and I could open my eyes..... anyway, I couldn't help but feel like it was an angel doing it.... ( by the way, I'm not a freak) I was praying to God, Jesus when all this started happening..... so I didn't know if it was a good or bad angel.... Or if it was something in my counchessness....... I have told people about this.... I can tell how it is better in person, but most of my friends and family think it's the weirdest thing they've heard.
If you have experienced something like this before please let me know....
If you have any advice on how to prevent this from happening I would love to know :)

Report AbuseI have experienced something like this, its when I'm falling asleep, or even occasionally waking up. Its called sleep paralysis. (Wikipedia has a whole article on it) It usually only affects me when I'm especially tired or stressed. Basically while you're sleeping, there's a function in you that stops you from moving, so you don't try to act out your dreams, and the timings are just a bit off from falling asleep, and this function taking affect. Sometimes you're half-asleep, so its not uncommon to hear/see strange things while this happens. I've heard strange sounds like abrasive winds, and voices sometimes. (sounds strange, right?) But then I can drag myself out of it eventually. I usually start by fighting just to move my finger, at least a little bit, and the rest comes from there.

Report AbuseIt is a terrifying experience. Apparently from the article (I had to go re-read it again), that feeling of terror is common with the experience too, not just from the fact that you can't move. Its such a vulnerable feeling, especially when I also get the hallucination that something dark and evil is out to get me. Or even when its just that someone is standing there, not moving, just watching me. I was freaked out too, before I learned about it in a psych class back in high school. I was surprised to hear that it happened to other people, that it wasn't something THAT strange. And relieved :)

Report AbuseYes... I am relieved now that I read all about it! It's crazy all the different things, that different cultures call it.... I called it an angel in my blog... I meant a dark angel is what it felt like. But your right knowledge is power.... So next time it happens... I will just try not to panick :)

Report AbuseI've had that happen to me in my late teen aged years and it felt like a ton was sitting on top of me. My eyes were wide open so I know it wasn't a dream and when I thought "in Jesus' name", I was released. I was a very religious person back then...more so than I am now, but that seemed to help me. Yes, it sounds off the wall, but I thought I would share with you my personal experience.

Report AbuseI though I had this happen to me once, but I wasn't really sure if I was awake or asleep (or was it a hallucination from some meds I was taking). I was lying in my couch (recovering from a surgery), just taking a nap and I woke up when I hear the house phone ringing. I remember being awake and just kind of hating the fact I needed to get up to get the call. Then I felt I couldn't move to get up and even seemed like I felt the pillow around my head close up around my sides (I was facing up). I started to panic and also had the feeling it was something evil or paranormal. I felt the tingles in my body from the fear and I could not scream or get up. Eventually I decided I might just not fight it. So I closed my eyes and waited. A couple of seconds later, I felt the tingles leave... So I go up quick and even grabbed my cell phone and walked out of the house. Nothing like this ever happened again, but it was such an eerie thing to occur. I always just hoped it was a hallucination from the meds. Now, who knows, maybe it was this.

Report AbuseThank you Spirit Walker! I would love to have more info from you... since you look at this in a spiritual way... I have only looked at it scientifically.... since most of the spiritual things I've read have said it was evil...And I definately don't want to look at it that way...
