User post: BEST BOXED MACARONI & CHEESE?

I'd like to nominate MY favorite, only available in ONE STORE near me!

My nomination:

KROGER Deluxe Shells & Cheddar Dinner - 14 ounce box, sells for $1.50 a box when on sale

UPC Code:  0  11110 85148  2

This also comes in an ELBOW MACARONI version, but I prefer the Shells & Cheddar version, because the Shells hold the EXCELLENT Cheese Sauce better than the Macaroni version!  The Cheese Sauce is WAY better than anything Kraft puts in a box!!!

The ONLY store near me that carries this brand is FOODSCO, in Redwood City, California.

I wish the NAME-BRAND stores (Safeway, Lucky, etc.) also carried this brand, because I feel that, once the public caught on to its RICH CHEESY TASTE, it would literally FLY OFF THE SHELVES!

Anyway, that's my OPINION, and I'm stickin' to it!

Mmmmmmmmmm, sounds good. I'm a big fan of spiral shaped mac'n'cheese, also better than elbow. I will look for this brand ~ thanks Larry :)

powdered cheese or cheese goop in a bag...no thanks. I'm from WI and my family ships me quality state made cheeses on a regular basis. I'm spoiled...grandpa was a dairy farmer/cheese maker. Regional execellence, just like Chicago hot dogs, KC ribs, NYC bagels and all the other great treats throughout the country. Once you grow used to them, every thing else is a second (or third) rate imposter.

But, I'll pass on the info to my friends who shop at the local Krogers so thanks for the endorsement.

    For OPINIONONLY:

I'm originally from Michigan, so I definitely understand the WISCONSIN CHEESE thing! My first recollection of a vacation with my folks was to the Wisconsin Dells and the Dancing Waters... GREAT!!!

Anyway, IF your friends do try this and LIKE it, get them to bring you a box JUST TO TRY A BITE... I'm telling you, this brand of CHEESE GOOP is definitely the BEST GOOP I've had from a box!

Regards to ALL THE CHEESEHEADS of Wisconsin...

In case you did not know, Kroger is a chain grocery store...we have 2 in the small town where I live in Ohio. I also like their macaroni and cheese. They have a low fat version that I often buy. It is not as good, but it is a nice substitute for about half of the fat.

Trader Joes has AMAZING mac and cheese! The wisconsin cheddar version is amazing (and surprisingly not too unhealthy)!

Well, I'm at constant war to keep preservatives out of my house. (My husband and I both have medical conditions that cause us to not process them well) But when i cave in I absolutely love Mac n Cheese from Trader Joe's! It's delish!
