Madonna takes her first bite out of NYC pizza... For real?!

Last night, Madonna was on "The Late Show with David Letterman," and one thing really shocked me. No, it wasn't her being carried into the Ed Sullivan Theater by a bunch of New York Rangers hockey players. No, it wasn't Madge admitting to "smoking a joint" before one of her previous appearances on the show. No, it wasn't her statement that she'd "rather get hit by a train" than get married again. The most surprising moment of the episode for me was when Madonna told Dave she has never had a slice of pizza in a New York pizzeria.

How can this be? Madonna is trying to tell us she lived in New York City for years as a struggling, upcoming artist and never had New York's most signature, affordable food. (Or would that be a hot dog?) She really never ate a cheap slice at Ray's? Or indulged in a fresh mozzarella pie at Lombardi's? It was really hard to believe her claim (she says it's because she's "not a cheese person"), since you'd think someone like Madonna has done everything. But when Letterman took her to a nearby pizza spot, she got a martini with her slice--maybe she is foreign to this whole pizza thing.

Check out highlights from the interview above. Pizza talk comes in around the three-minute mark. Do you believe Madonna had never had pizza by the slice before? What is the first food you'd want to eat when you came to New York City?

well, if she says she's not really into cheese then quite possibly it can be true. pizza is very cheesy, and maybe it didn't seem so appetizing to her.

Maybe she's vegan, or maybe the tight-looking 51 y.o. star avoids foods that are 25% puss, 50% cholesterol & 50% fat. Americans are such f**kin cheese heads, they can imagine someone who does not eat cheese or who has the will power to avoid following trends. This is news? Got cancer? Got cheese?

Is BIG Dave Letterman about to whip it out!!?!

    No wonder all the cameras!

    Madonna ordered what again!?!

    The Jumbo Italian Sausage!-

Er but, changed it to pizza when she found out Dave was (cough) Greek.

Its funny I thought he was Hungarian or Jewish!

Whatever the scenario-two all time greats that keep getting greater-

is what I call-entertainment. Big time classy meats a great a--y!

Dave dropped 20 just basking. Lucky stiff. Where's my interview?

So? I've been in NYC many times, and I haven't once had any fast food in there.

I find this hard to believe as well...before she turned rich enough to afford diva lifestyle habits she was a regular person like everyone else. Surely she didn't avoid pizza for health reasons- she said in an interview back in the day that she used to eat popcorn all day because "it's cheap and it fills you up". I'm so tired of celebrities acting like they've never lived in the real world. What's next, her announcing she's never taken a sh*t before too?
